Exchange the change
Traveling: It is not only going places and meeting new people. It is about constant change. When you travel, you learn that listening is way more important than talking. Eveyone has a story and a past. It is about changing enviroments. It's about adapting. Traveling is saying yes to new expirience even when you are terried of the unkown.But being on exchange is that and so much more. It makes you an example. A conection between your culture and the one you are adopting now. Being an exchange student makes you tolerant. Makes you realize how lucky you are for the things that are home and for the ones that are not. The world now doesn't seem as big as it usted to look. Suddently, you have friends from all over the map. Exchange is having an instant brother or sister when somebody says: "You are from ______? Wow me too!".
Sunsets that turn into sunrises with people that have only known you for months but will stay in your heart forever. And realizing that love is no longer just for people, you can literally fall inlove with a place, with the feeling of being lost and learning again. You become a little kid again. Having to learn how to talk, take buses and count money. Changing so much that you don't even remember how you could live a life before exchange the way you used to. Crying over a picture, a food and even just a smell because for a moment, a breef moment, it took you home. You realize that the things you gave so much importance before become so irrelevant and you start foucusing on what really matters. The now.
And you will remember when you first got on that airplane, passport in hand, completly alone as tears to come down your cheeks while you say goodbye of your family and beging to cherish the feeling of the way your mother hugs. You realize that you are crying but you are not sad. You are on your way to the biggest adventure of your life so far and it is exciting because you have no idea what is going to happend. You have no idea that some day you are going to look back to that airplane ride and thank to every god in every language there is that it all went the way it did. Because even with all the changes you wouldn't change a thing of your exchange.
